Not sure on a 2020... But on my 19 it was such a PITA that I added a couple of my own in areas I could get to WITHOUT dismantling the entire dash/heater..... I ran a red lead to a bus that was hooked to CONSTANT HOT... And a yellow lead to IGNITION ON lead... I located them in under the steering wheel where parts were missing due to the heater install... now life is EASY!!!
  2. Well, maybe yoir left CVJ is the drier of the two? Mine just happened to be the right.
  3. He's still tight in there!! While i strap him down with wheel straps.... I still need to compress the suspension some or he hits the beds above. Only when his rack is on.....
  4. These are out of the 2019 defender shop/service manual. Hope this sheds some light on your situation. Joe
  5. Well, neither of those are scheduled service times... But, that being said, better sooner than later.... really the oil would be the thing to deal with... mainly to remove any metal shavings that may have been on NEW PARTS that have dropped into the oil system... Zircs? I think there was 14 in total... been a bit... but there is a post here somewhere with Andy and myself stating how many and where they are..... now that I'm thinking about it.... there may be even more than 14... Joe
  6. My rattle is gone.... figured it had to do with my right front outer CV joint.... Since it grenaded and I replaced it with lifetime guaranteed Gorilla axles...... my GROWL IS GONE!!
  7. So glad I have a 19 with analog controls.... seems CanAm has some serious work to do on their electronics..... AC INCLUDED... 😢 JOE
  8. WELCOME to the forum!!! As for the door height??? While a STOCK defender sits around 80". Once you start adding tires taller than 29" and heaven forbid a lift..... a 7' door will be tight..... also, something to keep in mind.... Most doors with a cable system have the spring BELOW the door height. I bought a hauler with an 8' door...... sure it slides right through the door..... but the bunk beds hang below that and rub my rack... Keep this in mind... You can ALWAYS get a smaller rig through a 8' door.... but you can MEVER get a bigger rig through a 7'er..... just sayin' Joe
  9. Sorry for delays guys.... BEEN CRAZY AROUND HERE.... As far as gearing and clutch slipping??? Neither have been an issue... I believe this IS the way it should be!! Bottom end power is lacking a lil', but overall top speed is fine.. I'd have bought a Maverick if I wanted SPEED..... and that day may come... But for now.... Happy with my decision. Hope everyone had a GREAT THANKSGIVING!!! and a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! JOE
  10. So yer having issues drilling holes? Have you looked between liner and roof itself? There are plates welded to the roll bar that can be drilled... rather than drilling the tubing. It will take a few spacers for install. That's the way I did it. But there is more than one way to skin a coon.
  11. Not positive, but it sounds like you are drawing too much power through that light. Seems odd..... But not really any other reason for your situation. While I have over 40" of LEDS they are mostly wired separately. I HATE WIRING ISSUES!!! GOOD LUCK!!! Joe
  12. When adding the door switches.... you need to add a micro switch to the light so that you can use the light when the doors are closed.... either that or swap it out for a Toyota dome light that already has the switch in it.... I added the seitch and did some custom hotglue work...
  13. Man....... I can't say for sure, but with as many that have the noise.... and many have blown CV joints..... I wonder if it isn't CV joints that are being heard. When mine blew out it was pretty much DRY.... The way the outer cup on the axle, ball bearings, and cage ride within the boot it may be it chattering as it rolls.... Just a thought.... my right CV blew around 1000 miles... Replaced with LIFETIME Gorilla axles.... Good luck
  14. Let me be the first to WELCOME YOU to the forum!!!! Nice rig!!! Make yourself at home... You will find that most here are pretty open to answer any questions you may have!!! Some of us here have done some pretty extensive modifications and have learned a few things along the way!! STAY SAFE and HAVE FUN!!! Joe and Bear....
  15. SO TRUE!!! SAD!!! BUT TRUE!!! The days of having PRIDE in your work are gone also... Back when a man's WORD meant something... Now the word is lawyer/lawsuit...... SO SAD...
  16. At this point this is the second dealer I've been too. What I'm finding is they don't seem to have QUALIFIED help in the Defender lineup down here. More Moto and Razor techs... I guess what gets me the most is that when a customer takes their rig to the dealer for a diagnosis and the diagnosis was TOTALLY INCORRECT what type of confidence would you have in any of their work?? What would have happened had I not called their bluff??? And left it there to be worked on..... would I have paid for parts??? (Oh you needed those Mr. Schulz...) Then we noticed your caliper backing plate was also bent and you can only get that on a complete caliper..... So your entire parts bill is 600.00 and labor of 720.00 (6 hours) and another 100.00 in shop fees... for a total of 1420.00...... for what it seems will be a caliper that will cost 350.00.... How would someone know??? Upsets me a bit really... yesterday when I called them on it... He comes back with, "well, the differential seemed to be locked up so they couldn't spin the wheels and SUSPECTED the hub and rotor were bent"..... Then why when they called me to pick him up and let me know of the "bent parts"..... didn't they say, "Unfortunately Mr Schulz it seems that your differential is locked up so we really could do a brake diag. We "suspect" it may be a bent hub and or rotor..... How long have you owned your Defender? We could check on possible warranty coverage of your differential. We will need to pull into the diff. and inspect the visco-lok.... while we're doing that we can possibliy find out more on the brakes situation.... to do this.... it's gonna be another 4 hours.... How would you like to proceed?"
  17. I'm writing this wondering if it's only me? Or do others see the same thing? When I went in to get my Outlander serviced and started the process of purchasing Bear, the dealership was ALL ABOUT service... But since Bear has been purchased? CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BECOME MIA!!!! AND THE TECHNICIANS ARE A JOKE!!! I was having issues with a brake not responding correctly and not allowing the brakes to be bled. After a month of trying to diagnose the issue with NO SUCCESS!!!! I took him to a local CanAm dealer for diagnosis. Made an appointment for a Saturday (a week after the call) and Bear sat until Wednesday to be even looked at. THEN WHY DID THEY HAVE ME BRING IT IN ON SATURDAY??? (Their reasoning for bringing him in Saturday was they didn't have room for him before that, yet he sat five days until anyone looked at him) All that being said, they came back with a diagnosis that my rotor and hub were bent. But worse yet, the front diff was WASTED!!! So.... I ask about warranty on the diff and they tell me they don't replace BROKEN PARTS..... WHY THE "F" WOULD I NEED A WORKING PART WARRANTED???? CROOKED BASTARDS!!! But back to the brakes.... I order the parts THEY said were junk. After recieving the parts and going to replace them..... The rotor did NOT look bent at all so I placed it on the NEW ROTOR.... Guess what? ROTOR WAS PERFECT!!!! Well, maybe if the hub is JACKED bolting the rotor to it would warp it??? So I place the old hub on the new hub and guess what??? NOTHING WRONG THERE EITHER!!!! So lets see, I take my rig to the dealer, pay 180.00 plus the 150.00 in parts only to find out the guide rods that the caliper rides on are tweaked and it will not slide back and forth easily which holds the caliper from staying closed down on the rotor.... Requiring the pedal to be pumped to get the brakes working correctly. Which I had to figure out MYSELF!!! WHAT A SCAM!!!! TOTALLY LOSING FAITH IN CANAM AND THEIR DEALERS!!! Kinda don't see why I should be responsible for the diagnosis fees!!! Considering what is wrong HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR DIAGNOSIS!!! SHAME ON YOU #SKNORTHWEST
  18. I always figure the trial version as part of my cost. Meaning that if I get something and it doesn't work for me, that price is then added to the unit that I'm going to need. In that if the 2500 was 100 and a 5000 is 200. That means (to me) that the 5000 cost me 300.... but thats me. I guess if you can use it in some other way it would not be a total lose... other than the time it takes installing it. Same principle as mud, the drag of the snow and the freezing to the bottom of your rig also adds to the weight of the pull. Again, good luck in your path to what works for you... I'm pretty sure HF would refund you and allow you to buy an upgraded winch. Might be an option. A 2500 is more suited for a quad, but if it works for you..... AWESOME SAUCE!!!
  19. Not saying a 2500 won't work, but usually you you buy a winch that is at least twice the weight of the rig plus some. That way you dont over strain the winch itself during a pull. After your stuck in a bog the suction creates more than the weight weight of the mud itself. My suggestion would be get a larger winch. I've always been a guy that would rather have MORE than needed than NOT ENOUGH when it's NEEDED.... HF's 5000 works awesome and comes with a rocker switch for the cab.... GOOD LUCK!! Joe
  20. Which winch kit did you get? I'm not sure about the front considering I bought my 19 with a factory front winch. But the 5000 I bought from HF works grrat on the back. I believe the 21 still comes with a 4500 up front which may have a larger roller than something smaller...
  21. I get it... but others with that same fitment are incorrect. Hope I'm wrong... it has been known to happen... Not often... but it has happened.
  22. Unfortunately the cab units are different and unavailable. This model is like a "one off" axle setup.... crazy... but unfortunately true... They may in time build them... but again, being a one off is gonna make it hard to get them considering other axles have a MULTI FITMENT..... Another reason I went the direction I did..
  23. Mother Superior called all the nuns together and said to them, 'I must tell you all something. We have a case of gonorrhea in the convent.' 'Thank God,' said an elderly nun at the back. 'I'm so tired of chardonnay.'
  24. As long as it's not my LAST DAY....... I'M GOOD!!!
