  1. Agree with less then 30 miles on it I’d be calling for an appointment at the dealer. I’ve had zero issues with this or herd of it being a problem with defenders.
  2. Yup lifts out no probs depending on what’s inside. I was going to secure it also from the inside so when it’s locked you can’t just lift it off but I take it on and off often and just didn’t want to add another step. Besides if a thief wants in bad enough they’ll just break in.
  3. I don’t ever use the tool kits that come with these things but I’m sure when the band breaks I could wrap a rag or towel around it and it would stay put. I have that plus the winch controller in front hood compartment that’s it. I’ve also had my defender in some pretty crazy places but nothing so violent that it would shake that loose. Guess it’s in the driving😉 I also carry my REAL tools and winching stuff in a truck box I made to fit it the defenders box slots. Works great plus water proof unless you go right under and it also locks.
  4. My rubber also has dried out pretty bad and looks like she is going to blow. I think the kit would probably stay there regardless
  5. What did you run for the second batt? I’m just curious as i want to add a second also.
  6. I agree with Andy BUDS may be needed. It sure sucks but it also sucks for all the others that have toys sitting in the shop. I always recommend to people buying from a dealer with a good reputation rather then being brand specific. When I’m buying if the shop seems a little like I’m just a number then I usually won’t buy from then. Usually cause I like to wrench. If it’s a good shop they will be busy busy during the time you need them. Things don’t break in the off season. Sounds like they are trying pretty hard. picking up and delivering into your camp was nice of em for a broken axle in a mud hole. Warranty issues can be a bit of a b though. Some times it’s outa the dealers hands. Hope they fix it for you or you can find the issue yourself. I’d probably be checking all my harnesses and connections over a cold one. Could be as simple as loose harness Sure sounds like it could be electrical or fuel to me. Did it go into limp mode? I’d also dump all fuel including lines and inspect filter. Yes it sucks being under warranty and having to fix but if it gets you on the trails then have at it.
  7. When I bought mine the sales man tried to talk me out of the 10 for the 8 saying it had more then enough power to do all the same jobs as the hd10. I don’t disagree that it can but I’m sure it is working a lot harder to do so. He didn’t think that was the case though. Maybe they make more from the hd8 or maybe he thought what he was saying to be true. Needless to say I brought the hd10 home and glad I did. the real reason is I didn’t want to be the hd8 parked beside a hd10 on the trail. Go big or go home.
  8. Once you start swapping a arms and adding lifts breaking axles is the norm I think for a lot of folks that play hard. Not to mention the added weight you have with a cab unit. Probably the reason for different part number from factory on your axles. Adding clutch upgrades and a turbo and I’m sure you will be taking advantage of that lifetime warranty. Sounds like some nice axles though and I hope bear can be rolling down trails again soon.
  9. Was a joke I didn’t really think I was gaining 5hp.
  10. Well good thing is your windshield is a lot smaller then a deck and if a job that small hold you off the water you probably didn’t have the time to begin with. Also owning a campground I don’t get much time to camp anymore. I can always find time to play with the defender though i just wanted to put my 2 cents in on the windshield topic. Most people could get by fine with the poly I would think. If your in constant mud I’d be leaning more towards the glass. Cost in Canada at least was 4x for the glass not including the wiper kit if I’m not mistaken. That’s a new poly every other year for 8 years. Before I ordered my defender I looked at windshield reviews and most were from people with glass saying it was the way to go. I just wanted to post as someone with the poly who is happy with it to date. If I were looking to put full cab on I’d go with glass no question. But if looking to save a few bucks the poly one is not bad. Like I said before would I like to have glass? yup. Do I regret buying the poly? Nope comes down to your budget and what your using it for I guess plus I like the weight loss and 2 min removal. Gotta be +5hp
  11. O ya and the polish is called novus plastic polish.
  12. Not really sure about what government funded social programs your talking about but I don’t think that’s why. We pay to play just like the rest of you do. It’s just a way to middle man parts. Most the stuff that it’s done to is contractor supplies and dealer oem stuff. I’m not talking the easy to fix or find stuff. I’m talking the stuff that only really contractors or tradesmen use. or dealer parts. Amazon is a perfect example it shows oem can-am doors snorkel parts bumpers etc stuff for you guys in the USA but for me in Canada amazon.ca same parts are not available. See it all the time. If I think the price is a real good buy I’m probably on amazon.com instead of amazon.ca
  13. A friend gave me some stuff to try on my old machine and it worked out amazing. Almost like new except for the large scratches. It obviously wore off and would have needed to be reapplied but I only did it once. He uses it on his Harley that is his pride and joy so I felt pretty safe using it. I think it was called novas. I will have a look in the shop later on I’m pretty sure I had some left. It was a 2-3 part but I only used the 2 parts. Also I can’t figure out why we pay so much more either. Trying to find anything aftermarket or oem is crazy priced in Canada compared to the USA. Almost three times the price on most things I look at. Plus not a lot of your retailers will ship to Canada. It’s the way it works for everything. They allow retailers or shops to order in parts to mark up the price wile we can’t order directly. Legal mafia lol i own a campground in Ontario and use hydro meters throughout the park for each site. The counters in those boxes are about 4 bucks directly from Eaton in the usa but I can’t order them directly so I’m forced to pay 18 bucks each in Canada. thisbis why if you are close to the border a US mail box would be nice. I’m about four hours but been thinking about it more and more these days. Well not really during covid days lol. I think of how my defender would look if I lived in the states. 🤔
  14. I’m pretty happy with the hard coated windshield from can am. Is it the best absolutely not but does it do the job yup. I’ve got around 2000km in my hd10 and it does have some scratches but nothing to bad. I don’t baby it if there is a low branch that window is going to push it. Lol. Would I like to have the glass one yes but I was in the same boat as you not really wanting to spend that much on the glass after dropping what I did on the hd10. I love my defender but think the accessories can am puts out are way over priced. Come on 5300 for hard doors. That’s crazy and around 2 grand with wiper for the glass flip out. My deciding factor was I had the poly window on my last side by side and it was deff pretty scratched up and needed to be replaced but it lasted almost 9 years. No yellowing or cracking. Just scratched to poop. Ever replaced your windshield in your truck. Well I did last year in my 2016 ram and it was 500 bucks installed. So to think that can am should be 2000 is crazy. It is nice though and if I had the cash I’d probably get it. But I’m a little crazy also. I also like to be able to take it off on those super hot days. Takes about 2 min.
  15. Just wondering how mounting those lights above the doors worked out when closing? Any movement? I like the look but feel they might get snagged on branches a lot where I ride. Also wondering if you are you out of rocker switch locations in that rig and if so where have you chosen to locate additional ones. Your bear is a sweet looking rig
  16. Did you grease it lol I’m sorry I had to. That does really suck to break an axle if you haven’t been doing anything with bear that would justify a broken axle. I’m betting if it was me brp would say we don’t cover those kinds of things but that’s my luck. I hope for your sake they make good and hook ya a new one. I also hope they don’t see the photo of what looks like bear pulling a 5th wheel toy hauler. Great photo though 👍

    Squeaky

You can get Steel bed mounts for the box that replaces those plastic ones that can am thought was a good idea. I’m pretty sure battle armour makes the. I plan on doing this but probably not till one breaks. Grease or oil might stop the squeak but will only help dirt stick around inside. Maybe try taking the bed off and cleaning/inspecting them first. One could be cracked.
  18. Finished making the newest defender accessory. Was a fun build. Turned out pretty good. Was looking to buy something at first but not seeing much that mounts the winch plus still allows me the use of my hitch. Found a few online But most the winch was almost inline with or just slightly above the ball. I wanted it tucked up away as close as I could without mounting it right to the machine. Only downside to thisis I can’t dump the box with it on but no big deal. I wanted it to be removable. Going with a wireless remote so I don’t have to add another rocker switch to the dash and this is really only going to be on the defender when I may need it. Plus with the wireless I could put it on anything else add 12v and she’s good to go.
  19. And throw out bearings are not greasable they are sealed units. Changing one would be a bit more work then a wheel bearing witch can be greased.
  20. When I saw you could buy a fitting to do the defender I just assumed they were not sealed. When your adding a squirt of fresh grease not FILLING it as you mentioned your not putting it through the seals so I’m guessing water could get in that same location. As I said I think the guys and gals that play in the swamps and mud holes would be the ones looking to do this more often. I’m sure your average person would not benefit from doing this. But if you enjoy working on your toys. And there’s lots of us that do then I don’t think a little SQUIRT every year or two would do damage. I hope you grease your trailers bearings lol jk I’ve yet to change one of those that was not contaminated with stuff. Boat trailer bearings to be the best examples that’s prob a better comparison then a trucks bearings that are a sealed unit ps I like a full worm on my hook
  21. Great tip about seasoning belts you posted I’ve been doing this with sled belts for years.
  22. Maybe it’s just me but I think I’m harder on utv bearings then my truck bearings. For the most part my truck is on paved roads and when it is in trails I’m deff not going through them like I am on my defender. I’m sure I prob overwork the load capacity and have mud and water up to the floor at points in my defender. Can’t say the same for my truck. I’ve also changed more wheel bearings on trucks then toys. I’m sure that’s as you mentioned due to the amount of miles put on a vehicle compared to your defender. Maybe I should be greasing my trucks bearings also. Nah working on the daily is not as fun as working on the toys. ill do the opposite test and also report back if or when I need a new wheel bearing for my defender. I’ve got around 1600km in my 2019 hd10xt so it should be pretty good comparison. also glad you reminded me to change the air in my tires. Who wants last years air in there. Lol.
  23. I have never had to grease a bearing on any of my atvs or past utv machines and only changed out one rear set on my old Suzuki when one was bad atv was 10 yrs old so I just ordered both. After buying this defender I was seeing lots of bearing grease Tools I could buy. My thoughts at first were oh I guess I should get one so I can grease them as reg maintenance. Once I poke around on the web I find many pros and cons. I’m not really a deep mud hole rider.( cause the opportunity rarely comes in my damn sandy area). I’m guessing those guys are doing much more oiling and greasing of the units to keep water and mud from sitting in them. If my bearings were under mud more then above grade them I’d probably want to put fresh stuff in regularly. I’d still like to maybe do it once a year or so. Just my thoughts. I like to wrench on stuff though
