1) With vehicle in park, turn ignition key on but do not start the engine.

2) Select the vehicle total mileage using the Mode button.

3) Press the Set button and hold while you switch the Hi and Low beam 3 times quickly. From the time the set button is pressed the hi and low beam activation must be complete in less than 5 seconds.

4) Release the set button and turn the key off.

5) Do not turn the key back on until the multifunction guage turns off.

If you don't succeed the first time wait untill it times out and try again starting with step 1.

I haven't tried this yet but this is the info from page 146 of the 2018 sxs Shop Manual Supplement.🤔

The picture in the shop manual shows two buttons at the top of the guage, the left one is labelled with an M for mode button and the other one on the right is labelled S for Set button. The BRP symbol is between them? Hope this helps.😉

I have a 2017 Defender Max HD8.

With a gauge that only has one button:

1.Turn Key to ON position (do not start)

2. Set the gauge to Odometer with total mileage

3. Hold Select Button down

4. While holding the Select Button down, flip the headlights from dim to bright 3 times within 5 seconds.

5. Release Select Button. Turn Key off and wait for gauge to go black. Turn key back on and the maintenance required message should be cleared.

Hope this helps someone.

Okay, so does this at the milage/hours BRP designates? I had mine serviced at 1000 miles and now with just over 1200 it is coming on... Is this just a standard thing, or is something else required? I'll be doing the reset, but contacting the dealer (for what thats worth) about it as well...

According to the 2018 Shop Manual Supplement the "Maintenance Required" message comes on every 200 hrs. Did you happen to have 200 hrs. on the engine when the message came on?

Good to see a procedure for the machines that have a one button guage.🙂

I think it may have hit at the 200 mark. There is 208 on him now.

Hasn't worked for me. I turn the key on lights in the off position. My milage is on. I press the 's' button, turn the lights to high, then low, high,low,high,low,off.... turn off the key. Wait for complete shutdown..... Try again, only to have message... not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I haven't done this on my machine yet but are you holding the "S" button down until you have finished the 3 light cycles, than release S and turn off key?🤔

Are we talking all the way off to high beam? Or just going to high, then low, then high. And is that three highs and and finally back to low and then turn off? Tired of trying!! Gonna hit the dealer and make them clear it

You can’t get to high without going to low beams first and that comes from the off position, what now ??
