I have a 2020 defender crew max xt and cannot figure out how to open the front hood to the tool kit. Salesman showed me everything but how to open it

You will need to tug fairly FIRMLY on both corners of the hood forward.... get some silicone and lube the little rubber grommets that hold it in place then flip until it clicks up... took me a bit to figure out also.... Hopefully that helps... I see you decided on the XT... Love mine... Bear is a two door... But thats all I need... For now anyway...

But know this.... That CHEESY little rubber snubber is gonna dry out and crack within' a year.... Put your WAHAA JOKE tool kit somewhere else. I put mine in with my winch gear ammo box along with other tools...

My rubber also has dried out pretty bad and looks like she is going to blow. I think the kit would probably stay there regardless

Not where I take Bear... Besides, I like having ALL my tools in one spot and I'm pretty sure the rest of my tools (snatch blocks, turn buckles, jack, and real hand tools) won't fit under the hood. 😉

I don’t ever use the tool kits that come with these things but I’m sure when the band breaks I could wrap a rag or towel around it and it would stay put. I have that plus the winch controller in front hood compartment that’s it.
I’ve also had my defender in some pretty crazy places but nothing so violent that it would shake that loose. Guess it’s in the driving😉

I also carry my REAL tools and winching stuff in a truck box I made to fit it the defenders box slots. Works great plus water proof unless you go right under and it also locks.

That side box is a great idea. I like that mount you built. Does it just lift up and out when you want to use your full bed?

Yup lifts out no probs depending on what’s inside.  I was going to secure it also from the inside so when it’s locked you can’t just lift it off but I take it on and off often and just didn’t want to add another step. Besides if a thief wants in bad enough they’ll just break in.
