I was thinking about ordering a wired remote switch for the front winch so I can retract it without someone running the rocker switch. I have a 2020 defender lone star with the can am 4500 hd winch. I have heard guys say there is a 3 prong hookup for these under the front hood. Can anyone direct me to where this is? Maybe I don’t have one and it’s only run off the rocker switch in the cab.

I’ve got a 2019 and it’s in the corner where your tool kit is, other wise I’d say check the manual

Checked under there, no such luck. At least that I can see? Maybe I’m missing something that’s right in front of me.

Oh the owners manual. When I bough this machine they told me they had to order a new manual for me because the original “must have walked off”. Still waiting for that to show up. I’m not holding my breath on that one. Does this picture look like yours on your 19 under the dash?

thanks for your help!

The 19's don't look like that. No 12volt power post up in mine.

I have a 2020 HD10 cab with the same front panel set up as you. I installed this and it works great. I have it powered all of the time since there is not an keyed accessories wire in that front  box area. I can send you a picture. It's pretty simple, just hook it up to the 3 wire relay on the left side. Cords no more...

Would you mind sending me a picture of how you have it wired in? Much appreciated! Order has been placed with amazon. Thanks again!

Here are some pictures. I have a fair amount of stuff going on in there with the track module and my Boss V plow relay and power  hookups.

Run the the black and red wires to the + and -

Run the (2) other colors to the locations shown, if the winch reels in backwards flip flop those (2) wires around and it will correct itself

Goodluck!

Mine has worked great so far. I can pull the winch cable out to the end of its travel and just hit the button. I have used the larger remote only so far and store them both in the glove box when not in use. Just make sure to switch it off when done.

I have read a few of the reviews and they mention a time delay after pushing the button and when letting go. Is it noticeable?

Time delay? It hasn't been an issue that has been noticeable to me.

I just know that the location of the stock rocker switch is not user friendly while standing in front of the machine. I dont have to free spool the cable anymore with the remote.

Snowtower,

Thanks again for your help on the wiring. Same colors landed on the same leads as yours. Works perfect. No delay at all when you press the button. Not sure why some reviewers of that unit said it was delayed when they pressed the in/out. Have a great weekend!

No problem, this feature, my backup light, and rear camera have been my most used upgrades so far.
