New to the forum and this is my 1st post.  We have recently purchased a 2020 Defender HD 8 XT and I was wondering if it came with break in oil?  Or is it just the regular oil?

First off, WELCOME to the forum. As for the oil? I'm not sure they use an actual break in oil... but your dash will let you know when BRP feels it needs it.... I usually beat the warnings and deal with deleting the code after it appears.... Hope this helps... and HAVE FUN!!!

Thank you for the reply.  I've read that it needs to be changed every 2000 miles or 200 hrs whichever comes 1st.  I just wasn't sure if it needed to be changed sooner out of the gate or not.

There was a thread on here about oil changes, I changed my front diff and engine oil at about 30 hrs. to get rid of any casting junk or metal particles, the gearbox is next but I need to get more 75w-140.

One of the other threads is under the Engine heading, first oil change. Since you purchased a new machine you may want to do it sooner than later.🙂

Here she is!  Love it so far.  We mostly use it to tool around back roads.  But I'm sure it will get plenty of use this coming deer season.

I changed the gearbox oil at 38 hrs. It had some discoloration and the magnetic plug was  covered with iron particles so I  think it was a good time to drain them out. 1.5 litres of 75w-140 and the center hole just ahead of the back axles.🤔

We went with the HD8 because I couldn't justify an extra 4k for the HD10

Right on... I guess if that works it works... It's just if I'm adding a possible 400- 600 lbs with a back seat...not counting the rig itself...  I'd want the extra hp... That's just me... Some have called me EXTRA though.... So I guess I'm a bad judge.... 😉
