  1. Finally warm enough to get out and enjoy the outdoors this past week.  A few of the neighbor dads and I took our kids out to a piece of land close by and had a fire in the woods with the kids.  Turns out the defender box is more versatile than I thought.  Works as a kitchen counter for cooking hot dogs over the fire and a cozy bed haha the girls were pretty excited.

  2. Anyone have any experience with both OEM and puddle buster doors?  I have zero experience with OEM doors, but just installed my Puddle Buster doors and I’m not sure how I feel about them. Just curious if anyone else has an opinion on them.

  3. Have you had your heater in the deep water yet?

I'm dragging my feet on buying a heater because I figured the first mud ride would pretty much take care of any heater that would get submerged.

  4. I was also interested in this.  The only place I could find replacement plastic was the can am parts book and they run around $250 a piece.  And you are limited to just the colors of defenders past.

I would recommend to just wrap the plastics you have, but if anyone else has input on this I would love to know also.

  5. that sounds like a great idea.  I never thought to add the front receiver.  Then the possibilities are pretty much endless for custom attachments and really easy to swap in and out.

    thanks for the reply.

  6. You bet.
ps the 60 watt radio might be a little over kill. If your just wanting to talk to people in a tight trail ride you could just get by with the hand help 5 watt radios. The only reason I installed such a big one is because the cabin where I deer hunt has radios In every machine and one in the cabin

    good luck

  7. I was going for the A/C in hopes to keep the doors on during a few trail rides in July and August so I can keep the inside of the cab cleaner.

I don’t really want to put the bigger flares on because some of the trails are very tight and I might not fit.

  8. I was tinkering with my defender trying to incorporate a cooler to one day possibly make a "redneck air conditioner" in the cab and came across this little discovery.  If you remove the middle seat cushion, a yeti roadie 20 cooler that measures about 14" wide, 19" long and 15" wide fits perfectly on the frame of the middle seat.  Just have to pull the handle off of the cooler.  It even makes a better arm rest.

Not really important.  Just thought I'd share.

  9. I put the "Rugged Radios" 60 watt radio in mine and have had decent experiences with it.  We tested it in thick timber with smaller hills(maybe 50') and it worked out to a little over 2 miles, which was as far as we tested it.

I just have the sport roof installed without any of the roof interior panels so I installed it in the middle of the square steel tube that runs across the front of the roll cage, ran the wires up the pillar and mounted the magnetic mic mount to the roof.

If you do get a radio, make sure you DO NOT coil up the extra antenna cable.  If you have extra cable, which I did, they suggested running the cable back and forth on the roll cage with out coiling it, or you could cut it and put a new end on it.  Ground the antenna if you do not mount it to a steel roof.  I also put the antenna on the back of the roof where the roof is kind of at a 45 degree angle, aiming backwards so branches would bounce off it easier.

  10. Has anyone had any experience with having a cab heater and going through water/mud over the heater core?  Does the heater core stay clean?  Is it a big deal to clean them?

I have an Xmr that goes on maybe two trips a year where the mud is deep. Just curious the best way to heat the cab.

    thanks for any input.

  11. Hello all.  New here, but not to the forum. I’ve been asking questions on google since I’ve owned my defender, about a year now, and it seemed like I always found an answer here. So I figured I better join in case I could possibly help someone else the way you all have helped me.
