A hunt 2 remember - did you replace both front axles with Gorillas?  Or, just the one?  Also, did you go with rear as well?  About $750?  I’m very careful with mine, but crawling around under there to grease it last week I thought they looked weak for the type of terrain I operate in.  May preemptively do this.  Install yourself?  thanks, - Mark

PS - I rarely use my lockers, but I’d change them if the upgrade allowed “activation on the  fly”.

I replaced both axles... unless you are replacing with same axle you will need to replace both axles... and yes, install everything myself. I let the dealer work on it once, NEVER AGAIN!!! I don't trust their competency. I do all my own wrenching now.

Thank you! Unfortunately I have done enough reading to learn your exact sediment. I feel as if brp should stand behind their product, especially with this unit only being 2 days old. I read about the A/C issues too. Which is a big reason why I bought this unit. I’ll raise hell if I have issues with that HVAC system but hopefully things don’t make it that far.

I wish you the best!! Hopefully it goes painlessly

  3. Well first off let Bear (my sxs) and I be the first to WELCOME YOU!! Nice ride you got there... Seems the axles are a weak link. Bear's right front blew up at around 1500 miles. I went with Gorilla axles since they didn't warranty mine and didn't have any in stock anyway. Now it seems the front visco-lok is damaged so I'll be swapping in a Halo locker... Also beware of the AC.... Not sure if they have figured out the system yet as they were having multiple issues with them in the beginning... Didn't mean to turn this into a Dear John letter... lol... You have a sweet lookin' ride!!! ENJOY IT!!!!

    and.....

    WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!

  4. I went with two 6" at a slight angle from center. Gives me a bit more coverage widening the roadway light. Gives me a bit of light on the road/trail edges... then ontop I have 3 lights 2 more 6" over the A-pillars and a 24" straightforward.... plenty of light...

  5. Not a fan of spacers... I would rather get offset rims. But as for threads? Most spacers are rotated so THEY bolt on to the hub and then the rim bolts to it. A slighty narrower rear end will track better in the snow and slop. Good luck with your decision. Are you running everything OEM? Why is it you want to space things out? Handling? Stance?

Thank you. It's defiantly an addiction, I was up till 1 am install door and fender flares for our ride this past Saturday.

  8. I have 32's on Bear.... No considerable difference... many here are running 30's... shouldn't be an issue. Although like Andy said, clutching may be your next move...

Good luck and great to see you here,

If the back country has trees it is easy to raise the front end using your winch enough to change, repair or work on the front end. I can do the same on the rear end with my rear winch but most machines don't have one.

You can also use a cut tree or dead fall as a lever to raise the front or rear end and block up the machine on either axle. You can also build a small ramp to drive up, out of rocks, dead fall etc. block up the axle and remove the ramp material and drive off after the repair. I carry a small axe, small bow saw and or a chain saw if exploring an older seismic line. I also carry a small come along that could be used to raise the machine using a tree for support.

I carry an air compressor or hand pump, a small patch kit and some small ratchet straps along with a long screw driver and other tools. My most recent purchase has been "tire ject" which can be poured into the tire after removing the valve stem and air back up. I think there is a thread on here about different products. The good news is that quadding since the mid 90"s we have had only one machine get a flat that we needed to bring in a spare wheel for. We usually quad in the Alberta foothills (crown land) where there are some sharp rocks, lots of dead fall and some muskegs. Our day trips can be 60 miles long so a long way from the vehicle or help.🙂

Must ALWAYS BE PREPARED!!! When I'm playin' HARD I always carry my toy box... extra straps... snatch blocks... chainsaw.. shovel... etc.... Id rather have it in Bear and NOT need it.... Than not have it... and NEED IT!!

I have the new Can Am defender XTP HD10 (2020) and I am stuck where to send the front harness through the firewall. I watched the videos on you tube but they skip over that or different year cause there’s nothing easy about that lol.. any tricks out there to help out a fellow diy’er...

live tried to look for the hole the rest of the wires are going through but I loose them behind the plastic that seems to be held down with the fuse block and very little give to try and snake anything behind it.

just seems like it shouldn’t take so much disassembly to run a big fat connector without raising the cab off the frame.

There is a hole plugged with foam just in front of the door latch post. Behind the front fender... that was where I ran mine... let me see if i have a picture... No picture on file... if you need, I can possibly take one later.

  11. I also has to add flare extensions for the larger tires... (you can kinda see them in the pics) I used a rear seat carpet cover for a mini van... (all I could find where I was) and it seems to work, and has grown on me... I was shooting for a semitrailer flap to modify for my extension.

  12. First off, my side lights mount in th same holes as my upper door skin mounts.. (factory position) as for the sliders...... OEM but HEAVILY MODIFIED... Cut apart to widen to match up with the 32x10's on 5+3 rims... and then cut so I could slide a THICK WALL pipe inside the metal conduit they used for the rails...

    Hope these pics help....
