I purchased this 2018 Defender XMR last  February of 2018 for trail riding with my group, Southeast UTV. So far it’s been awesome in all conditions across NC, SC, GA, VA, and WV. I’ve had it in four feet of water (river crossings), mud, rock, and sand. Lots of mods and currently testing it on 30” Kanati Mongrels for T&E. Only maintenance in 2018 has been greasing hubs, suspension, oil change, and adding coolant (when radiator has been clogged in mud).

Southeast UTV testing Kanati Mongrels at 50+ mph and dune climbs in NC. These tires excel in sand and high speed maneuvers (given proper tire pressures for sidewall flex).

I like those Mongrel tires! I don't do much mud riding so it looks like they would work great for what I do.

I highly recommend the Mongrels. 10 ply, DOT approved up to 80 mph (I believe), and they handle great on sand, dirt, rock, and mud. I got a little hopeful in 3 foot mud holes testing them but it made a great excuse to use the winch and practice recovering the vehicle. They fly on asphalt and are smooooth. I haven’t had my ITP Cryptids on for months now. Great T&E so far after 6 months.

Snow test complete as well... great grip and non-directional tread is a plus.

Here’s the proof that Mongrels can handle some serious mud. This is a 300 ft section of southern NC mud and clay.

Having fun blasting down a straightaway riding with Southeast UTV in NC. The XMR may be geared for mud but can haul when needed.

Looks like some fun!  What camera are you using to record the video?  The quality is awesome!

Man it’s fun! I wish I could ride every day on the trails. I am using a GoPro Hero with a 180 degree mount attached to my helmet.
