Hello guys, just wondering if anyone can confirm that you have to loosen off the front diff in order to remove the driveshaft from the input shaft… or simply wedge it off?

Also, is it normal for that input shaft to be a little bit loose? Or should it be super tight. I’m just wondering if it’s shot….

Yes front dif has to be loosened up, and the pinion should be tight.

Depends on the model. You can get the driveshaft off HD8s without loosening the diff. They usually develop play in the spline between the universal joint and the input shaft, but you can often eliminate it by running a cut off disc thru the clamp slot and tightening the bolt.
