  1. Have you considered the Seizmik soft doors? I found a lightly used set on Craigslist for $600. I think they retail for $1000 here in the USA. Lifetime warranty. I live in Vermont and they have been great for keeping out the worst of the cold while plowing snow. I'll be adding an Inferno heater for next winter which should help even more.

I have been considering the purchase of a new Defender for two months now but was told by someone in "the know" that it might not be a good time.  Of course this does make sense to me considering inventories are extremely low and the wait times for a new Defender are approaching two months, if it is a unit that the dealer doesn't already have.  Rebates and incentives are long gone and dealers don't have to come off the price much or at all to move their units. Compounding this is the fact that the used market is non-existent.  What are your opinions?

I totally agree with your statement. My local dealership has no Defenders in stock and is unsure of the availability.

I don't have the wiring info on the 2021 but they now have an accessory bus bar under the front hood to make it easier to install accessories and should have a key on positive?🙂

Yes, my 2020 HD8 is set up this way.

  4. I find that my HD8 runs waaaaaaay too lean. I'm guessing to meet EPA emissions requirements. Wondering if there might be a tuner available that can adjust the fuel map. Sorry, this doesn't answer your question. I hate giving money to the dealership service department but in this case maybe you can bring it in for a proper diagnosis and then complete the work yourself.

Talking with my local CanAm dealer about becoming their CUSTOM customer service guy... As well as building some CUSTOM rigs for them to showcase/sell.... Do I see a DISCOUNT COMING??? But even BETTER.... A real manual and ACCESS to the CanAm BAT PHONE!!! I'll keep you all posted!! Maybe THEN.... I will be able to actually answer the rotar/stator question. But for now.... I'm pretty sure you can work around the issue... FIRST OFF.... ROUND FILE THE OEM GARBAGE LIGHTING!!! I only use mine in town to help people see me. Other than that.... ALL LED's

Can the OEM headlight bulbs be replaced with aftermarket LEDs?

  6.     I have been wanting to add a snow plow to my HD8 for my small driveway. Being the frugal (cheapskate) Vermonter that I am, I wanted to find a used plow rather than spend the big bucks on a new one. I was able to locate a 72" Moose plow on Craigslist in Chazy, NY which is only a short drive from my home in St-Albans,VT. Seller was asking $300 and I was able to purchase it for $260 after a little negotiating. It came with a crappy home made "universal" mount that the previous owner had cobbled together to fit an older (Chinese?) UTV.

I was able to find a KFI plow mount on sale on Amazon for $19 reduced from $80. Sweet. I just welded some steel brackets to the bottom of it which accommodate  the Moose plow arms. They are secured with 3/8" pins. I will need to figure out a way to adjust the vertical face of the plow since it does have a bit of a downward angle. Anyhow, I'm not too concerned since we have a short paved driveway in a new development.

It looks good and seems to work well with the 3500 lb Can Am (Superwinch) winch on the front of the HD8. I will update this thread when I get some use out of it. Thanks for looking.

Thank you guys. Now that I’ve got some miles on it I can honestly say that I really like this rig. The sound proofing noise and heat reduction are imo excellent. The air is awesome but honestly with the heat reduction in the cab it hasn’t really been needed. I have been using mainly to put it to a test for reliability.

if I recall correctly my promount plow was right around $1,050.

Yes, my local dealer quoted me $1400 for the Promount plow. The good news is that I found great deal on a used 72" Moose plow on CL. I need to fab a new mount for my HD8 though. I'll create a new thread with some pics when it's done. Congrats BTW!

  8. My HD8 surges lightly as well. I feel it the most when driving at a constant speed on a smooth road mostly. Yes, I agree that the fuel system is calibrated to run lean in order to meet EPA standards.

  9. Thanks TrueBlue for posting up that video. Looks like you finally isolated the problem. I can't believe that the dealership wasn't able to do the same. It appears that the "lash" between the ring and pinion needs to be adjusted. Are you still covered under warranty? Please keep us posted.

  10. I would tend to lean towards just biting the bullet and getting  the Limited. If you go with a lower trim level and throw a bunch of money at it to jazz it up, you will end up with an inferior product  and you will be still wanting more. "Buy once cry once".
