  1. Has anyone else had a Rear Lower A Arm bolt shear ? 2021 Max Limited on Tracks, Left Hand lower a arm bolt (forward attach point) Sheared when some overflow/ice was encountered. This caused one of the holes on the frame to get bent/elongated. I made a doubler and welded it on so that i could replace the a arm. We were about 20KM from town and it was -38C O.A.T.

    Cheers

I use aftermarket belts all the time... Trick is to season your belts... in that you want to heat cycle them... remember ehen you need a belt you're gonna be in a pickle... and putting a NEW belt is only gonna take some life out of it right off the bat if you start smoking it ... but.... if you swap out your belt now for a new one.... and break it in nicely.... you will be all set with a "seasoned" belt in perfect condition RTG!!! I like running kevlar belts...

Thanks Joe , if you don’t mind me asking what belt are you running ? cheers

Welcome to the forum... Sounds as if yer getting yer feet wet already. I'm not so sure I wouldn't be taking off those skids and finding out where that bolt goes/went??? Wouldn't think that would have been just left behind... Especially if I were riding in such extreme conditions... Beautiful photos

I had a long hard look around everywhere and could not find anything. Also by looking at the threads and shank of the bolt there isn’t even a scuff out of the cadmium playing which led me to believe it got left behind... i’ve dropped a few things down there before and it’s a PITA to find , ended up removing the fuel tank to find the piece i dropped..

  4. Been using Apache 360LT tracks on my defender Max for a few months now, 1350 KM on them and mostly on Lakes with blown in snow, Typically cruise at 5500 RPM and depending on the surface condition , around 30 KM/H +\-  , my brother was using one with out the DPS and he was reading about 55 KM/H , needless to say he put a lot more mileage on than me lol... i will say it does drink the fuel on tracks i can get about 50-60km on a tank on tracks

  5. Hi all , I have visited the page a few times while doing my defender build , I purchased a 2021 Defender Max Limited back in December 2020. I found some extra parts pretty well everywhere i looked when i got it home ( purchased out of territory and picked up at the border due to covid), it was a bit disappointing to say the least, the most alarming was the 6” bolt i could see through a hole in the skid plate under the engine. Other than that It’s been pretty good so far. I have put 1350 KM on it all on tracks. One of the header pipes cracked at the weld inside the cat around 800 KM (dealer gave me a new one) i TIG welded the seam on the new one before I installed, as they come welded from the inside from factory. Blew a belt at 1250KM. Installed a few BRP goodies along the way. First and foremost was the tracks , i decided to go with the Apache 360 LT , Most of the use has been brush cutting a trail to my family cabin about 100 km from town, there was an overgrown snowmobile trail and we widened it up to accommodate SXS. Here’s a few photos of the Rig. Looking for a shop manual for the 2021 defender as well as something a little more informative than the operator guide that comes with tracks if anyone has a line on that.

    Cheers
