  1. Broke my rear sway bar. Upon inspecting my dads newer xmr max, it appears the newer models do not have a rear sway bar.
    I have a 2019 and he has a 2021.
I’m wondering if I should fix mine or just leave it off.
thoughts? I’m worried there will be too much flex and I’ll start breaking axles.

    Hello All,

I had a ssv kit installed by the dealer and have been having battery issues ever since.  So I took the dash apart and found wiring all wrong go it wired the way that the directions say to hook it up.  Seems to fix the battery draining issues hopefully.  But now I have a front lower light bar that is hooked to the back battery and I have two light bars still on the main primary battery.  When I have the front bar on seems to be fine but when I turn on the other two takes about a minute to drain the main battery down and then the front light just turns off and then a little later when batteries are charged again it turns it back on.  Not sure what is going on there but having issues could it be the isolator that is bad or the relay?

I’m in the exact same boat. Only thing I’ve found that helps is never run the stock headlights at the same time as my light bar(s).
I cannot use the winch for more than 5 mins (with everything else off) or my battery goes dead. I don’t know enough about electrical but I can tell you my Maverick was able to run a lot more all at the same time with no issues.

  3. Dealer said that with my overhead audio ON, the stater isn’t producing enough power to run the machine. Just so happens the smart lock system threw a code.
That’s very frustrating. If that’s true, I’ll be screwed at night if I’m using my light bars in the mud.

  4. Anyone ever see their check engine light come on, and a message that reads "check smart lock system".

Had this happen over the weekend while in 4x4, Mud mod "ON", front and rear diffs were not locked. 12" of mud and I had all four wheel spinning at low RPM.

Things seemed to be working fine, except the error.

    Any ideas?

  5. Here's a fun fact for you:

the machine is register as a 2018 Lonestar Max, but it is actually an XMR. Can-Am slated this VIN to be a Lonestar but made it in to a XMR as one of their first production vehicles.  I bought it from a dealer as their "show machine". Only had a few miles on it from being wheeled in and out of trailers at shows.

  6. Can anyone who mud rides chime in on how often they need to clean their rad. I’m coming from the Maverick XMR (2017) that wouldn’t last one mud whole without going in to limp mode. Did a rad relocate and that machine was perfect. I’m not eager to do another rad relocate on the defender but fear I will need too.

  7. I'm in the same boat as "A Hunt 2 Remember". Having a Defender is new to me. I'm use to quads and Mavericks. My Maverick I could throw as many electrical components at it and it never gave me an issue.

    Issue #1:

On my Defender, I have an overhead light bar, a light bar at the front winch, the Can-Am overhead audio package.

I've found that I cannot run them all at once with the stock headlights.

How do I make them all work together? Or is this impossible at this time?

    Issue #2

My other issue is I have the Can-Am dual battery setup that I swear is messed up. With the Defender running, the secondary battery reads 12.X volts - you'd expect to see it jump to 14.x volts.

I had the dealer put that kit in for the very reason knowing I was going to want multiple lights running at night, with the stereo.

Any ideas how I can test the kit?

  8. For those of you who have a light bar mounted up top, what have you used to keep the light bar from moving (changing its pitch)? I’ve got a rubber washer in for now, but it’s not perfect. The light bar has notched groves but the brackets I ordered (Jeep Cherokee) are smooth, therefore the light will eventually change pitch.
I’ve included a picture of the light bar mount that came with the light bar showing the notched groves.
