  1. Welcome aboard from the sunny State of AZ! Formerly from the Granite State though, so technically we were neighbors!
  2. I recently picked up a 2022 Defender Max, that on the first ride, went into limp mode. Then it cleared, but over the next week it happened sporadically. One day when it happened it indicated the seatbelt wasn't latched. However it was. I followed the wire from the seatbelt to the middle of the front seat area. There was a connection there (where the sensor was) that I unplugged, added electrical grease and plugged back in. a few hundred miles later and no more issues. Maybe check that?
  3. Will take some pics. It was the wifes idea, she insisted on the installed AudioFormz. It has 4 speakers, 2 subwoofers, back up camera, built into a roof with LED lighting front and rear, plus interior.
  4. Just wanted to share an interaction with Super ATV. After purchasing a 2022 Defender Max Lonestar (and the princess bride requiring a stereo install) I decided to purchase other items (mirrors, windshield etc.) aftermarket so I could save a few dollars. Well I ordered a mirror and windshield from Super ATV (after researching other sites for same product) and I was very happy with the purchase for the following reasons: 1. Military discount ; Super ATV had a military / veteran discount. When retired (like myself) on a fixed income, this can mean alot 2. When ordered I was provided with a tracking number and expected delivery date. Items arrived, in great condition, two days earlier than expected 3. When I ran across an issue with the windshield, I called the company contact number. I knew from looking at the website that maybe they might be open for only four more minutes, so I wasn't expecting much. Surprise, someone (Paul) did answer, took the time to listen to my concern, asked for additional information and said someone would call first thing the next morning. 4. The next morning I get a call...from Claire (?) to advise my a new replacement is on the way and provide me with a tracking number! 5. 2 days prior to expecting the replacement, it arrives! So, I know I can only give 5 stars on ratings, but this company definitely deserves some +++ to go with them. It was so refreshing to have a company stand behind it's products, and have real people answer phones when you call. Thank you Super ATV.
  5. So, where and how, are most mounting a spare tire?
  6. So I drove the defender down to the dealership. Explained the problem and the tech tells me that the machine will not start if the brake light switch is defective. I explain I have not had any recent issues with starting. (When I first got it home, on 2 occasions, it failed to start when the ignition was turned to the start position). So they check to see if in fact the brake lights do not work, and as expected, they still don't. The first tech gets in and starts it and pulls it around to the service entrance. The next tech comes out and gets in, and it won't start! See, it won't start if the switch is bad! So, no switch in stock, it will be ordered and arrive in a few days.
  7. I recently purchased a 2022 Can Am Defender Max Lonestar (2 weeks ago!) I did my research then visited several dealerships. Fortunately in the Phoenix area, there are several dealers who have Polaris,Can Am, CF Moto and others all at the same place. I decided to compare the Polaris Ranger Crew Texas Edition to the Can Am Max Lonestar. Polaris Pro: Has a slight more "sporty" or aggressive look. Tires were 1" taller. Being a Polaris you know they have history backing them Can Am Pro: slightly more cab interior room when seated for me. I liked the dashboard layout a little better. Flip up seats, storage and lack of tall center tunnel or hump like the polaris. Bed had a much higher load weight capacity. When viewed from behind, the Defender had a sway bar about twice as thick as the Polaris. Same for rear seat passenger handrails. The Defender has rear seat handrails hat were more comfortable and went all the way across the back of the front seats, making hanging on to them more comfortable for guests. Big one: the Can Am Defender was $1000 less that the Polaris. That helped, especially since I had already decided on the Can Am at that point.
  8. Purchased a 2022 Defender Max Lonestar 2 weeks ago. Got it home and shortly thereafter discovered that the brake lights do not work. All other light functions (running light / headlights) are fine. Called dealership and they said it was probably a loose wire or the lead was never attached at the brake switch. Asked them for the location of it so I could check. The response was, "We can't tell you that, you have to bring it in for us to correct the issue. We don't want you working on it yourself." So, rather that drive 35 miles one way, does anyone know where the switch is located?
  9. Just purchased a 2022 Defender Max HD10 last Saturday. Ordered a windshield from SuperATV (same place the dealer would order from) and saved about $200. Total install time was about 1/2 hour (only because I initially put the rubber weather stripping on the wrong side). Ordered and installed a rearview mirror at the same time. Again, saved about $75 off dealer price for same one.
  10. Probably going to be needing tracks to replace those tires soon. Get out there ice fishing!
  11. Well my princess bride decided she wanted us to purchase a side by side with 4 seats. We previously had a Polaris RZR 900 2 seater that we sold a few years ago. So, after a lot of research, going to different dealers and trying out different brands (including cheap chinese (Hisun / CFMoto/Mobissimo) and even looking at a Roxor, I decided I preferred the Defender over any of the others. It met the requirements we wanted and felt the most comfortable. We ended up comparing a Polaris Texas edition to the Can Am Lonestar and decided on the Lonestar. So, after that decision was made we ended up signing on a 2022 Lonestar that we will pickup on Saturday. It wasn't the easiest deal as I discovered so much has changed since our last UTV purchase in 2012. 1. I was surprised at the lack of availability of new and used machines. In several instances, owners were asking for the same or more money for a used machine with little to no additional accessories. I would have gladly picked up a machine a few years old had the price been reasonable. 2. Price - wow, that has certainly increased since my last purchase. A recreational "toy" costs as much and in some cases more, than a new vehicle 3. Price again - except on accessories. Wow, talk about inflated prices. The dealership is asking thousands for windshields or doors or a host of other things. I'm thinking of how I thought outfitting my Jeep Wrangler was, well now that doesn't seem so bad. 4. Dealership. Haggling over prices and trying to get the best deal is always a struggle. Especially when supplies are limited. But the dealer was trying to convince me that $700 for a "street legal" kit (horn, rearview mirror and license plate illumination) was normal. Of course they originally attempted to imply it was a freebie add-on. When I asked about a kit the salesman stated "Oh, all our atv's and UTV's already have them installed. We just put them on all the vehicles, whether they are registered for road use or not". Cool I though, until I was going line item by line item for what I was being charged for. When I saw $700 (parts and labor I was told) I explained that was completely unacceptable. The response was that these were items added by the parts department and there was nothing sales could do. Informing them I was sorry for wasting their time if they were insistent on keeping them on, the whole, "let me talk to my manager and the parts manager" came out and ultimately the kit was reduced to $100 which I felt was more acceptable. But, finally got through everything and looking forward to having some fun with it!
