A follow-up from my earlier post: I completed the KC back-up light installation.  Nice and bright - a great area/flood effect.  Wired it to power block post 1 (red) and post 3 black (key switch “on”, so when you turn on the key to ACC, you get dome light, power windows, and my new back up lights - allowing you to use them as work lights with the engine off.  Found the matching Back Up Lights switch on EBay (with block) for $19z. Here’s what it looks like:   -Mark

You have to remove the side panels - this gives you access to the nut on the back of the reflector on each side.

Tip up your tilt bed.  There are 3 hex screws along top of the side panels, and another 3 along the bottom (necessitating the bed tilt).  Pretty easy!

So easy - in fact - that I am considering having my side panels wrapped for the fun of it!

Wiring will require a bit more creativity.

Yes I ran the wires threw the floor board under the panels... plus wire loomed them in ... the radiator lines run in there also there is a lil room between the two but the wire loom is just a lil extra precaution against the wires being down in the hot box

If I remove the floor panel on the driver side, will I have a good route from a switch in the dash panel to the rear and front of the Defender for front and rear turn signals?

Outlaw - I found it easier to remove the passenger side floor panel to get to the center “tunnel”.  Once your in, there is plenty of room to run wires and you can pull up behind the heater (if you have one) to get to the dash power block and switches.  -Mark

Im wondering if these lights would be a good choice for front turn signals? Any thoughts?

I ordered two of the cyclone (red) lights off amazon. Thay are advertised 516 lumas each. I wanted to see how bright or not bright they are. Reviews are all over the place, too bright, not bright enough?

Yes - 516 lumens.  They are the KC Cyclones.  One guy on this forum was able to rig up his brake lights to blink. That seems to me a better solution. However if you can get one of these KC cyclones to blink… You will certainly get noticed!

Ill report back. I dont know why they would not blink if you hook them to the LED Flasher and tie into the same switch that activates the rear LED turn signals. On my can am, I wired rear auxilary turn, running and brake lights that have their own circuit separate of the stock harness. Way less money and no need to cut into the stock harness.  Only issue so far is finding access to the stock brake wire near the brake pedal. I would cut in there to activate rear aux brake lights.
